5 Great Ways of Driving Targeted Traffic to Your Site

Targeted visitors to your site are ultimately what you want. There are hundreds, even thousands of ways of driving traffic to your site, but if it isn’t targeted traffic it’s going to be pretty much useless and a big waste of time and effort. Here are 5 great ways of driving targeted traffic to your site:

Write Articles – Don’t just write them; submit them to as many article directories as possible. You could write about absolutely anything, maybe even copy and paste some of your unique content on your site and use it as an article. Write about recent news stories giving your own opinion, or the latest development in the industry you’re in. Try to make them related in some way to your website. Link to your site in the ‘about the author’ box and anyone that clicks on that link will have read your article and be interested in what you have to offer them, hence, targeted traffic. The added bonuses of articles are phenomenal for instance they can have a viral effect, because people will read it on the article directory, copy and paste it (if you have given rights, they will include your link too) onto their own sites and you can get hits from there. What else does all this mean? If you submit one article to one site, and 10 people use it as content on their own sites, you will now have 11 relevant sites linking to yours, which Google will pick up on, and increase your rankings accordingly.

Comment Blogs – This is really simple but can be very effective. Find people that have blogs relating to your niche. Comment their blogs occasionally and try to look for sites which will allow you to leave your URL. Now I’m not saying go blog spamming, so don’t misinterpret me here. If you make good sincere comments, and join in the conversation people will respect you more and be more likely to click your name and visit your site. You have to be adding content to the blog, so ‘nice post’ and ‘visit my site’ are big no no’s. This is targeted traffic again because any one reading the blog is obviously interested in the niche you’re in already. Along with this, if you find leading experts within your field and read their blogs frequently, you might even learn a thing or two.

Swap Links – Find sites from search engines that are similar to yours, but not competitors. Browse the sites and try to find a ‘links’ page of some description. If they have one then it’s great news. Now find a contact email address and write to the webmaster asking if they would link to link to your site, in exchange for you linking to theirs. A good technique here is to link to them first, and include the URL of the page you are linking to them from.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – In my opinion this is the best way to attract targeted visitors to your site. Now this is an extremely broad subject to cover so I’m not going to go into great detail here. The basic thing you need to know is that search engines rank you in terms of relevancy to the key phrase that has been searched for. So if you have good key phrase density and lots of sites pointing to you (with relevant key phrases) then you will rank high. If these key phrases are searched for regularly and by lots of people, you can quite easily receive thousands of targeted visitors to your site every day.

PPC (Pay-per-click) – Alongside SEO this is another fantastic way of driving targeted traffic to your site. The best company to use for this is  Google in my opinion. They have a program called adwords. Basically you pay per visit to your site, so if you’re not selling anything and just offering information I wouldn’t really advise this. Likewise, if you are selling something but haven’t tested and tested your sales page until you know it’s converting well, I wouldn’t recommend this. If you have a sound product and a tested sales page this is the method to use. You get to add what ever title you want and a little description about what you’re offering. So anyone that clicks through to your site does so with a ready to buy attitude. Targeted advertising at it’s finest. Books have been written on optimizing adwords adverts for high CTR’s and ultimately conversion rates, so if you want to know more then I’d advise researching the subject or risk loosing hundreds, even thousands, of dollars.
